Twelve Pathways Fellows will be funded to work on six projects over the next two years.

The Office of STEM Education Excellence is pleased to announce the first cohort of Pathways Grant awardees. Twelve Pathways Fellows will be funded to work on six projects over the next two years. Please join us in congratulating the following awardees.
Jennifer Austin and Milica Čudina (Mathematics) will work together to generate, test and disseminate effective materials for teaching ethical reasoning skills across the mathematics curriculum.
Robyn Metcalfe (Human Ecology) will work with faculty partners to explore, develop and test frameworks and processes for integrating science storytelling into STEM coursework.
Kristen Procko (Molecular Biosciences) will use the redesigned biochemistry degree as a model to establish methods for measuring student achievement of programmatic outcomes, especially through innovative, skill-building “signature assignments.”
Layla Guyot, Roger Peng and Sally Ragsdale (Statistics and Data Science) will learn from a network of educators and staff across CNS to understand stakeholders’ needs and create alignment in the goals, structure and opportunities in the teaching of introductory statistics and data science courses at UT Austin.
Thushani Herath, Paola Sotelo Munoz and Amanda Vines (Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences) will coordinate across departments to build students’ lab competencies across the lab courses required for the biochemistry major by aligning skills outcomes with validated assessments, creating a framework for digitally badged microcredentials.
Christina Markert and Jonathan Perry (Physics) will develop, implement and assess professional development for cohorts of physics faculty on incorporating practices that facilitate belonging, growth mindset and a sense of purpose into their teaching.
