The Innovative Scholarship Associate will assist with scholarly initiatives, including the Pathways Grant Program. The Instructor Development Associate will assist with the training portfolio in STEMx, including supporting professional development for junior scientists. Innovative Scholarship Education Associate
Full Description: The Office of STEM Education Excellence (STEMx) is seeking a part-time STEM Education Associate for the STEMx Innovative Scholarship portfolio. This faculty member or postdoc will partner with the Faculty Director for Innovative Scholarship to implement programs that support innovation in STEM teaching and learning. For this position, experience facilitating faculty groups, implementing education projects, publishing in education journals, and success in grant proposal development is desirable. The Education Associate will work with other members of the STEMx team in some of the following areas:
- Coordinate the Pathways Grant community, including application review and event planning
- Plan, develop, and write grant proposals
- Assist with publication efforts, including writing manuscripts, open educational resources, and articles/perspectives
- Co-facilitate a new initiative to form a community in STEMx focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL)
- Consult with faculty about implementing evidence-based teaching methods in courses, assessing the outcomes of new efforts, and publicly disseminating findings
- Communicate and collaborate with STEMx and department leadership to share information and coordinate activities;
- Support broader STEMx initiatives that span portfolios as needed
Instructor Development Education Associate
Full Description: The Office of STEM Education Excellence is looking for a part-time STEM Education Associate for the STEMx Instructor Development portfolio. The Education Associate will help lead professional development trainings and support areas of need related to Instructor Development. Specifically, Education Associate would work with other members of the STEMx team in some of the following areas:
- Coordinate the CNS foundational graduate TA and UGCA training, including developing curriculum, facilitating workshops, and communicating with departments;
- Collaboratively manage the CNS Concentration in Teaching and Mentoring, including teaching a graduate-level seminar course, tracking asynchronous participation, and evaluating participant work;
- Co-facilitate STEMx instructor development activities, such as Teaching Discovery Days and the Course Design Initiative;
- Curate and create new professional development materials that are based in evidence (scholarly work), adapted for CNS audiences and aligned with both college priorities and the Associate's interests;
- Communicate and collaborate with STEMx and department leadership to share information and coordinate activities;
- Support broader STEMx initiatives that span portfolios as needed.
